Underserved Seniors in Gentilly Have New Option for Primary Care at Newest JenCare Senior Medical Center

Ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrates fifth JenCare center in New Orleans

WHAT: Ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the fifth JenCare Senior Medical Center located in New Orleans. Like other JenCare centers, the Gentilly location is in an underserved neighborhood to effectively provide personalized primary care for seniors – especially those with multiple and major health challenges.

Active COVID-19 vaccination partner helping Louisiana Department of Health reach most-at-risk elderly populations including minority groups significantly behind in COVID-19 vaccinations. For example, Blacks represent 32 percent of Louisiana’s population; 39 percent of coronavirus deaths; yet only 27 percent of Louisiana Blacks are protected by COVID-19 vaccinations. The new Gentilly center will further expand JenCare vaccinations as a community service, and the medical practice will, at the ribbon-cutting event, announce its new COVID-19 vaccination goal to safely administer more than 10,000 protective vaccine shots in New Orleans by Mother’s Day. Nationwide, JenCare and other ChenMed primary care centers are tracking to administer more than 50,000 vaccines by early May.
